A Cert III or Cert IV is not required, but we do consider qualifications, experience, certificates and tickets in assessing applications. If you don't have any qualifications and you would like to learn and earn some qualifications, we support second year staff in their studies towards tickets and certificates.

Machine operators must have significant experience and have a good mechanical knowledge and experience in maintaining the equipment.

Life at Palmerville Station

Palmerville Station was established in 1874 during the Palmer River Gold Rush and is located 116km west of Cooktown in Far North Queensland. Towns nearby include Chillagoe, Laura and Palmer. Fishing for barramundi, gold detecting, swimming in the water holes along with a number of other activities are on and around the station.   

Mustering Season

 

Peak Season

The first mustering  runs April to June and a second round of mustering runs September to November. Breeders are mustered, calves vaccinated, branded and tagged and larger calves are weaned.  

Low Season 

Palmerville Station has an extensive infrastructure program for the 2023 season. New paddocks are being opened up with new fencing, cattle yards, water infrastructure, 

Is the time for repairs, fencing, cattle yards, bores, dams, roads and opening up more paddocks. 

 

 

Local Attractions

While living on Palmerville Station there are a number of historic and cultural sites to be seen and leisure activities on station, from the historic ‘Gold Rush’ town Maytown, the Hayes Caves Indigenous cave paintings, gold prospecting in the Palmer River, barramundi fishing in the Palmer River, Little Palmer River, The Sandy Creek and numerous other tributaries, red claw from one of the 27 lakes and  hunting in the mountain ranges.

The workers accomodation and recreational facilities are located on one the beautiful lakes beside the Palmer Mountain Range. The camp has air conditioned bedrooms with showers and toilets, senior work accomodation has satellite TV and minibar fridges also.

The main building dining area indoors and outdoors, lounge area, laundry area and has a pool table, darts and TV area with satellite TV.

Broadband satellite internet connection for mobile phone (voice over wifi).
